This will be my 24th year of teaching. I am extremely excited to begin our 2015/2016 school year because I will have a one-on-one classroom again this year. It will be a great learning experience for myself and my students.
I graduated from Grand Valley State University and began my teaching career at Mason County Central. I taught grades 5-8 at their middle school in a self-contained special education classroom. I then taught for the next nine years at Fruitport MiddleSchool teaching 8th grade special education. For the last 11 years I have enjoyed teaching fifth grade general education at Shettler Elementary.
My husband, Chad, also teaches at Muskegon High School and is the Fruitport Boys Varsity Track Coach. We have two children. Our daughter, Felicia, is 21 and currently dual enrolled at Central Michigan University as a full time student and works at Meijer Store in Mount Pleasant. Our son, Cameron, is a Fruitport Senior this year. He participates in soccer, basketball, and track.
I truly enjoy sports and love watching my son, and many other Fruitport events. If my students provide me with a sports schedule, I will make every attempt to attend one of their sports events.
